Delhi NCR Winter Update: Severe cold disappears from Delhi-NCR, IMD’s prediction is scaring

New Delhi: Three days have passed in the last month of the year but the heat wave in Delhi-Noida continues. This time, the hopes of the people of the capital waiting for winter may be dashed. In fact, recently IMD has made a scary prediction. According to the Meteorological Department, this time North India including Delhi will not experience as much cold as it does every year. In such a situation, if you have bought jackets and sweaters for winter, then put them in the wardrobe because this time the cold will be spent in half sweater only.

Minimum temperature will also be higher than normal

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said in its forecast that in the upcoming winter season (December 2024 to February 2025), the minimum temperature in most parts of the country is likely to be above normal. Moreover, except some parts of South India, maximum temperatures are also expected to be above normal in most parts of the country.

IMD Director General M Mahapatra said that usually we see 5-6 cold wave days from December to February in the cold wave region which includes north-west, central, east and north-east India. This time, we can expect 2-4 fewer cold wave days than average.

Why is it not cold?

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the temperature of the month of November has been continuously increasing in the last few years. 2016 was the warmest November, followed by 2024, 2000, 2007 and 2018. Scientists believe that due to the absence of La Nina, winter may be warmer than normal this year. La Niña is usually associated with cold winters, but this phenomenon has not occurred this year.
