Delhi EWS Admission 2025-26: Free admission in nursery through draw, document verification in 10 days, read Edudel guidelines

Directorate of Education (Edudel) has issued SOP for admission on 25% free seats in private schools of Delhi. Under this, a computerized draw will be conducted for admission in EWS/DG/CWSN (Economically Weaker Section/Disadvantaged Group/Children with Special Needs) category. According to the guidelines, the documents of the children who will be allotted seats will be scrutinized by 29 zonal teams within 10 days. After the order of the High Court, Delhi Education Directorate has issued SOP regarding the admission process. The directorate has said that for free admission in private schools, there will be a help desk and a window for document verification in all district offices. The names of all the applicants who are found suitable under EWS, DG, CWSN categories will be recommended by the Directorate of Education. Private schools will have to give them admission under any circumstances.

Free School Admission: Will get another chance

If discrepancies are found in the documents, parents will be given 15 days to correct the deficiencies and resubmit the documents. Candidates who do not report during the first 10 days for verification will be given additional 5 days. Those people will be contacted through SMS/email/phone.

The Directorate of Education has said that apart from this investigation, there will be no other investigation. If any school violates the guidelines, action will be taken against it. If these free seats remain vacant, another draw will be considered. Further seats will be allotted through lottery.

Apart from this, the Directorate of Education has issued a circular informing that the annual income limit for getting admission under EWS quota (Economically Weaker Section) in private schools of Delhi has been increased to Rs 5 lakh annually.

Delhi EWS Admission: When will the form come, how many seats

Children of EWS/Divyang category and their parents will have to wait for admission in nursery in private schools. The registration process for 75% open seats in schools has been completed and their first admission list will be released on January 17. But the registration process for freeship seats (RTE Admission) has not started yet.

Actually, the Directorate of Education had given time till December 30, 2024 to verify the data of seats decided by private schools. After this, on the representation of schools, time has been fixed to check all the DDEs for 15 days i.e. till 15 January 2025. The schedule will be available only after this.

According to the prospective data, there are 94,284 nursery seats including all freeship seats including general in 1484 private schools. Of these, EWS/DG seats are 23,571 and CWS (Children with Special Needs) seats are 2,829. Apart from this, 1,883 seats of entry level classes were left vacant in the 2024-25 session, which will be added in the new session.
