Delhi Declaration passed in Asia Pacific Conference, Prime Minister talked about creating an International Buddhist Circuit


New Delhi : The second Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference on Civil Aviation held at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi concluded on Thursday with the adoption of the Delhi Declaration. The two-day conference concluded with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi The event was marked by the unanimous adoption of the ‘Delhi Declaration’ of the 2014 Buddhist Summit. Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said if we can connect all the holy sites related to Lord Buddha across Asia and create an ‘International Buddhist Circuit’, it will benefit the civil aviation sector, travellers, the countries concerned and their economies as well.

2nd Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference held in Delhi

The conference was attended by ministers, policy makers from 29 countries and about 300 delegates from 8 international organizations, including ICAO. During the conference, ICAO also celebrated its 80 years of operation. The Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, in collaboration with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), successfully organized this conference from 11 to 12 September at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

This high-level conference brought together Ministers, heads of civil aviation authorities and key stakeholders to address current challenges in the sector and unlock more opportunities. The Prime Minister shared the technological and infrastructure progress made by India in the region with top civil aviation leaders from the Asia-Pacific region.

Emphasising on making the civil aviation sector more inclusive for women, the Prime Minister said that 15 per cent pilots in India are women. This is more than the world average of five per cent. We will increase this number further. Modi also spoke about the changes that have taken place in India’s aviation sector in the last 10 years. he/she said that India is no longer limited to aviation but aviation has now become inclusive. Highlighting the important role of the civil aviation sector, he/she said that the focus is on connecting people, culture and prosperity through the sector.
