Deficiencies found in the audit of Delhi-Kolkata airport, but this time the result is better than 2018

New Delhi: The United Nations agency International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) audited Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport and Kolkata’s Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in India. This audit, which took place after 2018, lasted for 11 days. Some shortcomings have been found in it, but it is a matter of relief that the situation has improved compared to 2018. The audit report has not been made public yet.

Teams from 10 countries were involved in this audit
Sources said that the audit was conducted from 27 August to 6 September and involved a team of ICAO auditors from 10 countries. They closely inspected various services at both the international airports in the country for 11 days. These included the monitoring done by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), which looks after the security standards in India’s aviation sector, and the aviation regulator DGCA, and the action taken against airlines and airports that violate the rules.

Apart from this, the audit covered key points such as training of airport security staff, flight safety and security, quality control, airport operations, luggage security, cargo handling process and illegal interference. The audit looked at the level to which Indian airlines and airports are following international standards. It also looked at the arrangements for dealing with attacks like cyber attacks.

It was better than the 2018 audit
Sources say that although the audit report has not been made public, it has been found that this audit has been better than the audit conducted by ICAO in India in 2018. Compared to 2018, fewer deficiencies have been found in both airports and airlines, but can the deficiencies found affect the plans of Indian airlines like Air India and Indigo to increase international flights? In response to this, sources said that nothing can be disclosed about this at the moment. The auditor has given some important guidelines, work has been started towards fulfilling them.
