David Warner will not get a chance to play in the Champions Trophy, coach George Bailey confirmed


New Delhi. David Warner has bid farewell to all three formats of international cricket one after the other. he/she announced his/her retirement from Test cricket after the series played against Pakistan in December last year. After this, after the ODI World Cup played in India, David Warner bid farewell to this format. Then after the 2024 T20 World Cup, he/she retired from the shorter format. Warner had expressed his/her desire to play the Champions Trophy a few days ago. But coach Bailey has said that he/she will not be selected for this.

Bailey said, “Our understanding is that David has retired and he/she should be appreciated for his/her great career in all three formats. Our plan is that he/she will not be in Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. I think he/she is just joking a little bit. his/her career has been great. It is difficult to celebrate it. What he/she has done for Australia is amazing. We will now try some other players in different formats. It is going to be very exciting.

A few days ago, Australia opener David Warner wrote in a social media post that he/she will continue to play franchise cricket and also wants to play for Australia in the Champions Trophy. Warner wrote, “I will continue to play franchise cricket for some time now. I am also available to play the Champions Trophy for Australia, if the selectors give me a place in the team.”
