Bageshwar’s daughter Prema Rawat has once again brought the name of the district to the forefront. In fact, in the Women’s Premium League (WPL) auction, uncapped Indian player Prema Rawat was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for Rs 1.20 crore. Whereas the base price of Prema was Rs 10 lakh. Prema herself was surprised to get a good bid.

Prema told Local 18 that she had expected a maximum of Rs 30 lakh, but she was very happy that the bid was 12 times higher. Prema is a right-handed batsman and bowls leg spin. he/she played an important role in helping Mussoorie Thunders win its first title of Uttarakhand Premier League (UPL) this year.

fond of cricket since childhood
Prema is a resident of Sumeti village of Bageshwar district. his/her age is 23 years. Father Kedar Singh Rawat is serving in the Air Force, and is currently posted in Bareilly, while mother Basanti Devi is a skilled housewife. Prema is the eldest among three siblings. Prema has been fond of cricket since childhood. Currently Prema is playing senior ODI with Uttarakhand team in Ahmedabad. She used to play cricket with the village children in her childhood. From there his/her interest in playing cricket arose. Gradually this hobby became his/her passion.

Cricket Association support
Prema tells that her family supported her at every step. his/her primary education was from Sumeti. After this she came to Bareilly with her parents. From where he/she learned the nuances of cricket. Prema says that Bageshwar Cricket Association also supported her a lot, and coach Ravi Negi of Nibans Cricket Academy has trained her. Prema is a fan of the bowling of spinner Yuzvendra Chahal.

54 wickets in 49 matches
Prema, a member of Uttarakhand’s senior ODI team, has so far taken 54 wickets in 49 matches in all formats, and scored 184 runs. Uttarakhand Cricket Association Deputy Secretary Suresh Sonyal said that Prema has always played well for the team in difficult times. Seeing this, Bengaluru has included Prema Rawat in its team. he/she wished Prema all the best for her best performance in future.
