Danger-danger-danger… Has the pot of fear of democracy, constitution and reservation burnt in Haryana? Rahul Gandhi will have to think

New Delhi: A record is going to be made in Haryana. On November 1, 1966, Haryana was formed as a new state by separating from Punjab. Since then 14 assembly elections have been held in the state. For the first time in this state which has come into existence, a party is going to form the government for the third consecutive time. And Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has achieved this feat. The same BJP whose future was written in black letters by all the exit polls just two days ago. After the completion of elections on all 90 seats of Haryana Assembly on October 5, when the exit polls came, the Congress was in high spirits. Everyone had claimed that Congress would form the government in Haryana with an overwhelming majority. It was predicted that BJP was going to be defeated in Haryana by the unity of soldiers, farmers and wrestlers. But today when the actual results came, all the speculations were dashed. Hands could not change the situation, the lotus bloomed openly.

Is the open door for Dalits closed for Congress?

For the first two hours of vote counting, analysis continued as to how the Rahul Gandhi his/her image is continuously improving and he/she is becoming the leader of Congress. Experts were saying that people have started believing in Rahul Gandhi and his/her words have started resonating in the minds of voters. The basis of all these analyzes was the improvement in the performance of Congress in the Lok Sabha elections after Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo visit. Experts were claiming that the campaign launched by Rahul Gandhi along with Bharat Jodo Yatra and Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra as well as meeting workers of different categories, all these together are giving Rahul deep reach among the voters. It was said that Rahul Gandhi’s claim of ‘threat to the Constitution’ again opened the door of Dalits for Congress.

Dalits in UP-Maharashtra were scared by the claims of Rahul and Company.

In fact, when BJP gave the slogan of ‘This time it crosses 400’ in the Lok Sabha elections, all the leaders of the opposition alliance including Rahul Gandhi linked it to the intention of changing the Constitution. This also had an impact. The opposition alliance in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra performed better than expected. In both the states, a large section of Dalit voters left the BJP out of fear that if the Narendra Modi government returns to power with 400 seats, it might change the Constitution to affect the reservation system. This fear of Dalits gave a big blow to BJP in UP while the Akhilesh-Rahul duo shone. Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party (SP) created history by winning 37 seats. On the other hand, Congress also won six seats. Not only did Rahul Gandhi win from Rae Bareli seat, his/her vacated Amethi seat also went to Congress. Senior BJP leader and then Union Minister Smriti Irani, who had defeated Rahul Gandhi on the same Amethi seat in the last elections, lost to a local Congress party leader who had contested the Lok Sabha elections for the first time.

Rahul wins for the first time after Lok Sabha elections

The victory of SP-Congress alliance in Uttar Pradesh goes to Akhilesh and Rahul. This is correct too But since then the question also started arising whether there will be success in future in showing fear of danger to the Constitution and reservation? The track record of the two consecutive NDA governments under the leadership of Narendra Modi has never been anti-reservation. As far as Rahul and Company’s claim of threat to the Constitution and democracy is concerned, there is no solid basis behind it. This is the reason why BJP called it a deliberate propaganda for electoral gains. Party spokesperson and supporters started saying that this is a wooden pot which will not be heated again and again. Analysts said that the claim of threat to democracy, Constitution and reservation was propaganda and the results of the next elections would confirm this fact. If Rahul Gandhi and the opposition’s Indian alliance continue to succeed in alienating Dalit voters from the BJP, then it will prove that the fear of these threats has taken deep roots.

Will Rahul Gandhi still continue to show fear to Dalits?

For this reason, everyone had a special eye on the assembly elections of Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir. What was to be tested was whether Dalit voters across the country would gradually turn away from BJP? Now that concrete signals have come from both the states, it is being proved that the claim of Rahul Gandhi and Company was actually propaganda. The question is whether Rahul Gandhi will still roam around with a copy of the Constitution in his/her pocket and continue claiming that the Constitution and reservation are a threat to the BJP? Rahul’s track record says this only. Despite repeatedly criticizing Ambani and Adani, he/she never gives up his/her habit. In order to declare Ambani-Adani as looters of the country, they give such arguments which have neither head nor legs. It is on such arguments that BJP calls him/her ‘Pappu’. During the election campaign in Haryana, when Rahul talked about setting up a Jalebi factory, BJP took it to task. The party again worked hard to strengthen Rahul’s ‘Pappu’ image. So the question is whether the voters of Haryana distanced themselves from Congress despite being disappointed with Rahul’s understanding?

Dreams of revival dashed?

Even if we remove the issue of Rahul’s image, it is true that the Dalits on the basis of which Rahul, his/her party Congress and the allies of the Indian alliance were dreaming of their revival, have been ruined for the time being. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s warning of ‘if you divide, you will be divided’ has overshadowed the attempt to distance Dalits from BJP by showing fear of reservation. In Haryana, Dalits have not only saved BJP but also given it an unprecedented opportunity to form the government for the third consecutive time. Rahul Gandhi’s condition looks like ‘Punarmushko Bhava’. Rahul will again get a chance in the upcoming Maharashtra elections to prove that the pot of ‘Khatra-Khatra-Khatra’ campaign may have burnt a little in Haryana, but it has been repaired in time and can rise again. It has gone and will continue to climb further.
