Singer Daler Mehndi is making his/her acting debut with actor Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Welcome to the Jungle’. Daler Mehndi has been writing and singing songs for more than two decades, but now he/she will be seen acting. However, Daler Mehndi had received acting offers earlier as well, but he/she had declined them. Daler Mehndi told in an interview that 26 years ago in the year 1998 he/she was offered a role in a film. At that time his/her song ‘Kudiyaan Sheher Diyan’ had come and was a blockbuster. After that he/she got the film offer. In an interview given to ‘Hindustan Times’ Daler Mehndi told that in the year 1998 he/she was offered Kajol’s film ‘Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi’. But things went wrong because of money.

‘I asked for more money than the hero’

Daler Mehndi said, ‘I remember I had a conversation with the makers, and I had asked them for more money than the lead hero of the film. After a meeting of about 15-20 minutes, I finally decided that I do not want to do the film. All my friends said that this is a very big production and a great film, but I said that I have singing work right now, I will focus on that. There is still so much time, films will keep happening.’

‘Now I have to make my mark in acting’

Daler Mehndi said that in such a long time he/she never felt that he/she should become an actor now. However, now he/she wants to excel in acting. he/she said, ‘I did not want to spend my money to make a film, but I always had this thought in my mind that if a producer or director feels that I am needed or I have the talent to play a character, then he/she will call me. Now I feel that now is the time, I have already made my mark in singing, now I have to make my mark in acting. If God wishes, I will also master acting.’
