Cyber ​​criminals have hit us hard! Fraud of more than Rs 14 thousand crore in 3 years

New Delhi: Cyber ​​crimes are increasing rapidly in the country. Cyber ​​criminals are coming up with new tricks to cheat people. In this regard, the Home Ministry has released its annual report for 2023-24. It has been said in the report that between the year 2021 and March 2024, cyber fraud worth Rs 14,570 crore has taken place in India. According to the report, 2.16 crore complaints of cyber crime have been reported in the country during this period. More than 3 lakh complaints in 2024
The number of complaints has increased from 136,604 in 2021 to 513,334 in 2022 and 1,129,519 in 2023, the report said. 381,854 complaints were registered till March in 2024. The ministry said in the report that big technologies play an important role in proactively identifying and taking action against cyber criminals.

Use of Google Service Platform
The Indian Cyber ​​Crime Coordination Center (I4C) has partnered with Google and Facebook to share intelligence and signals for proactive action, the report said. Cyber ​​fraudsters are using Google services platform to launch crimes. The report said that the Google advertising platform provides convenient facilities for cross-border targeted advertising.

‘Investment scam’ a global phenomenon
The report says that ‘pig butchering scam’ or ‘investment scam’ is a global phenomenon. This includes large-scale money laundering and even cyber slavery. Unemployed youth, housewives, students and needy people are targeted, the report said. In such a situation, people are losing huge amount of money. This also includes borrowed money.

The report said that I4C has partnered with Google to share threat intelligence from time to time for immediate action.
