CUET UG Tips: Even those who do not take coaching become toppers! 6 point strategy will ensure success in CUET

1. Reading every chapter of NCERT

In the year 2024, 13.47 lakh students applied for admission in CUET in 283 universities of the country, now this number is sure to increase further in 2025. This time the student takes the exam of 5 subjects in CUET and in the board also there are exams of 5 to 6 subjects.

Just as students prepare for board exams through NCERT, they should also add preparation for CUET along with it. Every chapter of NCERT has to be read.

Career counselor Alok Bansal says that a student should be clear in his/her subjects, fundamentals of 11th and 12th, fundamentals of Psychology and this can happen only when he/she has covered the entire syllabus.

2. Time Management

2. Time Management

Like every entrance test, time management is an important part of the exam strategy in CUET. In CUET, each paper will be of one hour and MCQ based questions will be asked. In such a situation, choosing the right question and giving the correct answer in a given time will be easy only when you have practiced a lot and this will save so much time that you can also revise your paper. CUET exam will be conducted in Computer Test Mode (CBT) mode.

3. Change in entrance test pattern

If we look at the last four-five years, the GST collection from coaching institutions has increased more than double. According to the data of the Revenue Department of the Finance Ministry, while GST collection of Rs 2240.73 crore was received from coaching institutes in 2019-20, this number has increased to Rs 5517.45 crore in 2023-24.

Even during Covid in the year 2020-21, this figure remained at Rs 2215.24 crore. The collection was Rs 3045.12 crore in 2021-22 and Rs 4667.03 crore in 2022-23. Experts say that instead of understanding the subject, more focus is being given on cramming and the culture of cramming is being promoted by giving tips in coaching.

Keeping this in mind, changes have been initiated in the entrance test pattern based on the recommendations of the High Power Committee. Big entrance tests like CUET, NEET, JEE are being conducted on the basis of core subjects studied in board level examinations and the syllabus has also been reduced.

4. Concept should be clear

4. Concept should be clear

Dr. S., former Principal of Deen Dayal Upadhyay College of DU and Director General of Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies. Of. Garg says that now whether it is a board exam or an entrance test, mere cramming does not work. It is very important for the student to have clear concepts.

In the board, the student has to write big answers, although in the board too, questions are asked in a roundabout way, but in the board exam, there are still a lot of direct questions, but as far as the entrance test is concerned, only those students become the toppers. , whose concept is completely clear.

What this means in simple language is that along with completing the syllabus, it has also been understood well. If a formula is used in a question, then many types of questions can be asked on the basis of that formula and the student can answer the question accurately only when the concept is clear to him/her.

In subjects like Science and Maths, formulas should be on tips. Whereas in Social Science subjects also, it is important to read the chapter thoroughly because questions can be asked from any part of the chapter.

5. Understand the changes in aptitude test

5. Understand the changes in aptitude test

The General Test, which was running from 2022 to 2024, has now been redesigned as General Aptitude Test. General Aptitude Test includes General Knowledge, Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, Numerical Ability, Quantitative Reasoning (Simple Application of Basic Mathematical Concepts Arithmetic/ Algebra/ Geometry) and Logical and Analytical Reasoning.

Like other papers, this paper will also be of one hour only. This time there will be no choice in the question paper and it will be necessary to attempt all the questions. In such a situation, keep yourself updated to prepare for the aptitude test. There are concept based questions. Let’s give the question with a little twist. Be sure to look at questions related to recent developments in the country and also read newspapers.

6. Practice Papers

6. Practice Papers

Educationist and VSPK Education Society Chairman S. Of. Gupta says that in his/her schools, board students are made to focus the most on practice papers. Along with the practice papers of the board, it is necessary to get the practice papers of CUET also done.

This helps students figure out the pattern. Also, students should also do a lot of practice papers at their level. Now since there will be no choice in questions in CUET, practice will be very important, this will make it easier to select the right question.
