CUET UG CBT: Will CUET exam be completely online next year? It will take this much time for the 2024 result to come

CUET Result 2024: It may take at least a week for the result of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET- UG) to come. The National Testing Agency (NTA) had earlier fixed the date of releasing the result by June 30, but due to the controversies regarding the medical entrance exam NEET-UG 2024, the result of CUET has also been delayed. NTA first conducted a re-test of the candidates who got grace marks in the medical entrance exam and released the result and now NTA’s focus is on the University Entrance Test exam.

Admissions in 261 universities are to be done on the basis of CUET score, in such a situation admissions in these universities will also be delayed. Renowned institutions including Delhi University, JNU, BHU are also included in this list. At the same time, sources say that in 2025, the CUET exam can be conducted again completely in CBT mode.

Sources say that the process of preparing the result in CUET is quite complicated and first the provisional answer key of 63 subjects will have to be released, after that time will be given to challenge the answer key. The final answer key will be released and the result will be finalized on the basis of all the data. Till now NTA has not released the provisional answer key, while the delay in the result is also increasing the difficulties of the students. A large number of students are waiting for CUET score so that they can finalize their admission process.

There are many students whose names have appeared in such institutes which do not accept CUET scores. Now such students are confused as to what to do? Even on the NTA website, students are not being given any information about the expected date of the result.

Review of decisions taken in 2024:

The seven-member high level committee formed for examination reforms is also reviewing the decisions taken regarding the competitive examinations of 2024. The first question is why the UGC-NET exam held in June was conducted in pen and paper mode for the first time and why was CUET-UG conducted in hybrid mode? Since 2018, NTA has been conducting UGC NET and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Main) in CBT (Computer Based Test) only. This time UGC NET was conducted in pen and paper mode and it had to be cancelled.

Brigadier Pradeep Kumar Upmanyu, who has been associated with the examination system at IP University for a long time and is currently a career counsellor, says that the committee formed on examination reforms will have to ensure that there is no shortage of manpower in NTA and accountability of all officers is fixed. The examination process should be student friendly and attention should be paid to timing. There should also be guidelines regarding the monitoring process from registration to the declaration of results.

NBT Lens- Will CUET-UG also be back to CBT mode in 2025:

The committee on exam reforms will also consider whether CUET-UG should be made completely in CBT mode again? This is also a big exam and being in pen and paper mode, there is more human intervention. The high level committee is closely studying the process of every exam conducted by NTA and big exams like NEET, JEE Main, CUET are in priority, in which more than 50 lakh students participate.

Most of the exams to be held in 2025 are likely to be held in CBT mode. Sources say that UGC had also requested NTA to conduct CUET-UG in hybrid and pen and paper mode in 2023, but NTA refused to do so in that year. After that there was a change in the leadership of NTA and UGC once again insisted on conducting the exam in hybrid mode and in 2024 a large number of students gave the CUET-UG exam in pen and paper mode.
