Crime branch will investigate the scuffle in Parliament, police had registered FIR against Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Friday handed over the case registered against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to the Crime Branch on charges of ‘pushing’ in the Parliament complex. An officer said that now the crime branch will investigate this matter. On Thursday, Delhi Police had registered an FIR against Rahul Gandhi in connection with the scuffle that took place in the Parliament complex.

There was a scuffle in the Parliament House premises

On Thursday, members of the ruling party and the opposition faced each other at the Makar Gate of the Parliament House and raised slogans over the alleged insult to Constitution maker BR Ambedkar. During this, former minister Pratapchandra Sarangi and Lok Sabha member Mukesh Rajput were injured in the scuffle between the opposition and NDA MPs.

BJP filed FIR against Rahul Gandhi

BJP has filed a police complaint against Rahul Gandhi, accusing him/her of indulging in ‘physical assault and provocation’ during the scuffle in the Parliament complex.

Complaint filed under these sections

Section 117 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 125 (act endangering the life or personal safety of others), 131 of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS) against Rahul Gandhi in Sansad Marg police station. An FIR has been registered under IPC (criminal force), 351 (criminal intimidation) and 3(5) (common intention).

Rahul Gandhi rejected BJP’s allegations

The Congress rejected this claim outright and alleged that the BJP MPs pushed Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and scuffled with Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. Congress has also given a complaint to the police in this matter.

Rahul Gandhi said, ‘A few days ago a matter came to light, on which the BJP did not allow discussion in the House the entire time. Then came Amit Shah’s statement on Baba Saheb Ambedkar. We have been saying from the beginning that the thinking of BJP-RSS is anti-constitutional and against Ambedkar. People of BJP and RSS want to erase the contribution of Baba Saheb Ambedkar.
