Court orders to register FIR against Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, allegation of extortion through electoral bonds

New Delhi: The court has ordered to register an FIR against Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the case of alleged extortion through electoral bonds. This order has been given by the People’s Representative Court of Bengaluru. Janadhikar Sangharsh Parishad (JSP) co-chairman Adarsh ​​Iyer had filed a complaint in the Bengaluru court seeking directions to take action against Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Complaint filed against many leaders and officials

Adarsh ​​Iyer alleged that extortion was done through threats and electoral bonds. Jan Adhikar Sangharsh Parishad had filed a petition in the 42nd ACMM court in April last year against Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, ED officials, BJP national president JP Nadda, other national party leaders, then BJP Karnataka president Nalin Kumar Kateel, BY Vijayendra. Complaint was made against. Hearing the complaint, the court directed Tilak Nagar police station in Bengaluru to register a case of extortion through electoral bonds.

Police instructed to register FIR

After considering the complaint of the petitioner, the Bengaluru court has directed the Tilak Nagar Police of Bengaluru to register an FIR. Senior advocate Balan presented arguments on behalf of the petitioner. The hearing of the case has been adjourned till October 10.

What is electoral bond?

Let us tell you that the Central Government started the Electoral Bond Scheme in 2018. Under this scheme, the government was to eliminate cash donations from political parties, so that transparency is maintained in political funding. After this, people can donate to political parties through SBI electoral bonds. But this is not disclosed. Last year, it was canceled by the Supreme Court after allegations from opposition parties and several petitions against it.
