Anti-corona vaccine given to 97 countries
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, India has provided 115.4 million doses of anti-coronavirus vaccine to 97 countries of the world till December 31 last year. India started the vaccination campaign against the corona virus in the country on 16 January last year. Also, from the same day, under the Vaccine Friendship Program, it started giving vaccines to other countries as well.

Under Vaccine Maitri, India has provided vaccine to its neighboring countries as well as many other poor countries in the form of a grant. Apart from this, it has also played the role of a responsible nation by selling vaccines to many countries as well as providing vaccines for the World Health Organization (WHO)’s COVAX program.

Under the Covax program, the vaccine is made available to the poor and low income countries of the world. India had provided the highest number of 54.2 million doses to South Asian countries following its earlier policy of neighboring countries.

2.25 crore doses to Bangladesh the most
India has given 22.5 million doses to Bangladesh and 186 million to Myanmar. At the same time, 94.99 lakhs were provided to Nepal, 90.08 lakhs to Indonesia, 14.68 lakhs to Afghanistan, 12.64 lakhs to Sri Lanka, 5.5 lakhs to Bhutan and 3.12 lakhs to Maldives.

Among the countries of Europe, Britain got the maximum 5 million doses from India. At the same time, India has also given five lakh doses to Canada and 8.7 lakh doses of vaccine to Mexico. Two lakh doses were provided for UN peacekeeping forces and 1.25 lakh doses for UN health workers.

At the same time, Dr. Qutub Mahmood, Scientific Director of Immunology and Microbiology at PTH, Washington DC, said that the corona is a unique virus, because it has a very high mutation rate. I hope that as we move forward this year, maybe we will come out of this pandemic very soon. To stop its spread, we have to get vaccinated. Along with this, we will also have to take a booster dose when the time comes. He said that this is a big achievement for India. Indian vaccines are used globally. So this is a great achievement to celebrate, as India has completed more than 60% of the vaccination coverage.
