Congress will run a program to help professionals facing work stress, inspiration taken from the death of young professional Anna Sebastian

New Delhi: In view of the increasing workload and stress on young professionals in the country and the resulting deaths, Congress has now planned to launch a program to highlight the work-related problems and stress faced by young professionals in the country. Praveen Chakraborty, President of Congress branch Professional Congress, gave this information in the media. he/she told how a young professional Anna Sebastian lost her life due to work stress. After which Rahul Gandhi talked to Anna’s parents and family members and assured to do something to help the young professionals of the country. In view of the same, Professional Congress has decided that to help the working professionals in the country, a program ‘Speakup – for Workplace Wellness’ will be run to bring their problems to the fore. This program will be dedicated to Anna.

What is the objective of this campaign of Congress?

While presenting the outline and objectives of this program before the media on Saturday, Chakraborty said that this is a multi-phase, multi-sided program for all the young professionals and their families across the country. The first campaign in this program is a Speak Up campaign, where we are encouraging thousands of professionals to share their experiences about workplace stress. he/she expressed confidence that considering the sensitivity of the matter, not revealing the identity of the people sharing their experiences is also an important aspect of this program. On this occasion, a video was also released by Congress in which Chakraborty goes to Anna’s house and talks to Rahul Gandhi about her parents. he/she told that in that call, Anna’s parents wanted only one thing that situations like Anna’s should not happen to other professionals in the country. he/she wanted the issue of office stress and workplace wellness to be raised at the national level, its dangers talked about and we as a nation, as a society, tried to address them. At the end of the call, Rahul Gandhi assured Anna’s parents that something concrete would be given in this direction.

Professionals from across the country shared their experiences

Chakraborty said that after the instructions received from Rahul Gandhi, many professionals from different corners of the country shared their experiences and tensions with him/her at the personal level and collectively. he/she said that people can share their experiences, suggestions and ideas by visiting ‘www.profcongress.in/speakup’ portal. Explaining the further outline of this exercise, Chakraborty said that once we have people’s experiences and suggestions, we will draft a guideline on this issue with a group of experts. There will be a process of discussion and brainstorming on this draft across the country. After this, the leaders will submit it to the government with the help of opposition, media, civil society and industry. The objective of this exercise is to create a law and guidelines that can strike a balance between workplace wellness and higher productivity.
