Congress CEC meeting in Delhi regarding Jammu Kashmir elections, discussion on nine seats of first phase


New Delhi : On Thursday, an alliance between the Congress and the National Conference was announced for the current Jammu and Kashmir elections. On Friday, after returning from a two-day tour of Jammu and Kashmir, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi participated in the Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting regarding Jammu and Kashmir. In this meeting which went on till late evening, discussions were held within the Congress on the nine seats of the first phase.

Congress candidates finalized on 5 seats!

According to sources, in this marathon meeting, the candidature for five out of nine seats has been almost finalised. These will be announced soon. The CEC will soon discuss the seats won in the first phase. It is worth mentioning that the first phase of elections is to be held on 18 September, for which nominations have to be filed by 27 August. Elections are to be held on 24 seats in the first phase.

Elections for 90 seats in Jammu and Kashmir will be held in 3 phases

It is said that in this phase, Congress is contesting on nine seats. Voting is to be held in three phases on a total of 90 seats in the state. Elections are being held in Jammu Kashmir for the first time after Article 370. Assembly elections are being held here after ten years. There are 47 seats in the state from Jammu division and 43 seats from Kashmir valley.

Congress will contest the elections in alliance with National Conference

BJP is in a strong position in Jammu. However, there is some discontent within the Congress in Jammu regarding the seat sharing. Actually, Congress believes that it is in a strong position to stop BJP in Jammu. In such a situation, the claim of National Conference on some seats in Jammu region is not being liked by the local leaders of Congress.
