New Delhi: As soon as the proceedings of Parliament started, today there was a strong uproar in the Rajya Sabha on the Karnataka reservation issue. In fact, 4 percent reservation has been given to Muslim contractors in government tenders in Karnataka. The BJP is an attacker about this. The BJP says that the Congress government of Karnataka has blown up reservation. In the Rajya Sabha, BJP sought clarification from Mallikarjun Kharge. On the other hand, the Rajya Sabha proceedings have been adjourned till 2 pm. Amidst the uproar, Mallikarjun Kharge said that ‘no one can change the constitution of Baba Saheb. We will protect the constitution under any circumstances. However, on giving reservation to Muslims in Karnataka, Union Ministers JP Nadda and Kiren Rijiju asked Kharge to clear the Congress’ stand. JP Nadda said that the Deputy CM of Karnataka is saying that if needed, the constitution will also be changed.
JP Nadda said that it is written in the Constitution that ‘reservation cannot be given on the basis of religion. But the Karnataka government has passed a bill in which 4 percent reservation has been provided in public contract. At the same time, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said, ‘It has been an important case in our notice that a senior Congress leader has given a statement that he/she will amend the Constitution so that reservation can be given to the Muslim community. This statement is an attack on the Constitution. We will not tolerate this. The Congress President should clarify this. There is a possibility of uproar in Parliament on this matter.
