Congress again raised questions on Protem Speaker, Parliament session starts from tomorrow

New Delhi: The first session of the Lok Sabha in Modi 3.0 is starting tomorrow i.e. 24th June but the opposition is constantly raising questions about the Protem Speaker. The parties involved in the India Alliance, especially the Congress, have raised objections over the selection of the Protem Speaker. A day ago, the news came out that after BJP MP Bhartruhari Mahtab was made the Protem Speaker, the India Alliance may now reject Mahtab’s role of assisting in swearing in new members. On the other hand, the Congress said that eight-time Lok Sabha MP of Congress Kodikunnil Suresh was ignored because he/she is a Dalit. The BJP responded to this by saying that he/she is not a continuous MP. Now once again on this, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that if the BJP is giving a wrong argument, then why was BJP MP Ramesh Jigajinagi not made the Protem Speaker.

Congress again raised questions about the Protem Speaker
Jairam Ramesh said that Congress’ Kodikunnil Suresh (who is in his/her 8th term) should have been the Protem Speaker. But BJP’s Bhartruhari Mahtab has been appointed on the flimsy ground that he/she has a higher claim because this is his/her 7th consecutive term. Jairam Ramesh said that if this logic is adopted then why was BJP MP Ramesh Jigajinagi, who is in his/her 7th consecutive term, not considered. Is it because he/she is a Dalit like Suresh?
What did the Parliamentary Affairs Minister say on the neglect of Kodikunnil Suresh

Regarding the Protem Speaker, the Congress has been constantly alleging that Kodikunnil Suresh was ignored by the BJP government due to being from the Dalit community. Responding to the allegations of the opposition, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju had said that the MP who has served the longest without any interruption is chosen for this post. Mahtab has been a member of the Lok Sabha seven times without any break. he/she mentioned the name of K Suresh and said that he/she has a total of eight terms, but there were breaks in 2004 and 1998. There has been no violation. Now once again the Congress is raising questions on this answer.

Lok Sabha session is starting from tomorrow
Mahtab, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Cuttack Lok Sabha seat in Odisha, was appointed as the Protem Speaker by President Draupadi Murmu under Article 95(1) of the Constitution so that he/she could discharge the duties of the Speaker till the election of the Speaker on June 26. The initial parliamentary session of the 18th Lok Sabha is going to begin from June 24. With this, the possibility of conflict in both the houses of Parliament has also started to appear. In this session, on the one hand, the government’s priority is the election of the new Lok Sabha Speaker, the oath taking of the members, the joint address by the President to both the houses of Parliament and the motion of thanks discussion on it. The conflict in the session started with the appointment of the Protem Speaker (temporary Speaker).
