Cockroaches, frogs, fingers… what all is being found in food items, this time a scandal happened in Vande Bharat!

New Delhi: There was an uproar when a cockroach was found in the food of people traveling in Vande Bharat Express, one of the most luxurious trains of the country. A couple was traveling in Vande Bharat Express from Bhopal to Agra on June 18, when a cockroach was found in their food. This food was provided by IRCTC in the train. The nephew of the couple filed a complaint giving information about the incident on social media. he/she has demanded action against IRCTC.

A user named Vidhit Varshney posted on X (Twitter), “On 18th June 2024, my uncle and aunt were travelling from Bhopal to Agra by Vande Bharat. The food they got from IRCTC turned out to have cockroaches in it. Please take strict action against the food vendor and ensure that this does not happen again.”

IRCTC replied
IRCTC also responded on this matter on Thursday. They talked about imposing fines and taking strict action. IRCTC wrote, ‘We apologize for your travel experience. This matter has been taken seriously and appropriate fines have been imposed on the concerned service provider. We have also tightened production and logistics monitoring.’

People are reacting on social media
Many people on social media responded to the complainant’s post. One user wrote, ‘This is a serious problem as such cases are being reported in India’s most premium train Vande Bharat. This is really disappointing.’ Some others jokingly called it a source of ‘protein’.

Cockroaches have been found in train food before as well
This is not the first incident of cockroaches being found in train food. Cockroaches have been found in Vande Bharat Express food before as well. In February, a passenger named Dr. Shubhendu Keshari was travelling from Katni to Jabalpur Junction when he/she found a dead cockroach in the food served by IRCTC. In July last year, the railways had imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on the food vendor after a passenger found a cockroach in the food on the Bhopal-Delhi Vande Bharat Express.
