CLAT Exam Preparation: Select which stream after 10th will be helpful for CLAT If this question is also in your mind then it is important for you to understand that every stream has both pros and cons. There is nothing to say that any particular stream is ideal for CLAT. CLAT requires special preparation with various subjects which will not be covered by any stream Science, Commerce or Arts.
Which stream is best?
Which stream you choose will not make any difference. For CLAT, you have to study equally with every stream. So choose the stream for yourself in which you feel that you have genuine interest and can perform well, so that you will get good percentage in class 12th board which will help in your career later. With this, you will be able to enrage yourself with more energy to prepare for CLAT. If there is any confusion regarding the preparation of CLAT, then pay attention to these points-
There is no fixed ideal stream to prepare for CLAT. Because subjects like Legal Studies and Political Science are similar but they are by no means sufficient to prepare for CLAT. Also Logical Reasoning and Verbal Ability are not included as part of any subject in the school curriculum. GK which includes both static and current affairs is also a section that requires separate preparation.

When to start preparation?
Excellent preparation for class 12th is a must because even though CLAT score will help you get into the NLU of your choice, the board marks will remain in your CV for the rest of your life. In fact class XII marks are very important for most of the postgraduate applications. So you have to score well (as good as you can) in the boards.
Choose a stream which you feel will help you to score well in your board. Keep in mind your interest and passion in choosing the stream it will help you to score well. No advantage of science stream?
There is no significant advantage of taking Arts stream to prepare for CLAT, it cannot be said because subjects like Political Science, Sociology etc. are taught in the initial years of law school, for which you do not need any base. With a little extra effort you can score well.
Some statistics say that people from Science stream do well in CLAT. But it is very less. Basically science background develops analytical skills which can help you do well in the aptitude test, but it is by no means a guarantee. Also if you study for CLAT separately, you don’t need to go with Science stream.
Take special care of these things
Prepare as soon as you start the better but often in class XII there is more school pressure and tests due to which it is difficult for the students to maintain their preparation for CLAT after August-September.
Starting preparation from class 11th will give you time to focus on master concepts (important areas of History, Geography, Sports, Science etc.) and practice enough questions in new areas like Exam Pattern, Legal Reasoning and Logical Reasoning. Proficiency will come. Then in class 12th your time will be to give mock tests and do better in monthly current affairs from multiple sources, besides extra time to practice tough areas.
