It includes Justice J.B. Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra, besides Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, who is the 50th Chief Justice of India. On this occasion, let us know about the Chief Justice of India, Justice Dhananjay Yashwant Chandrachud. Justice Chandrachud was born on 11 November 1959 in Mumbai. his/her father, Yashwant Vishnu Chandrachud, was the 16th Chief Justice of India. he/she held this post from 22 February 1978 to 11 July 1985.

Justice D.Y. Chandrachud’s full name is Dhananjay Yashwant Chandrachud. he/she obtained a BA Honors degree in Economics from St. Stephens College, Delhi. After this, he/she completed his/her LLB from Campus Law Center of Delhi University in 1982. he/she received LLM and Doctorate in Juridical Sciences (SJD) from Harvard Law School, America in 1986.

Justice Chandrachud was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court on 31 October 2013. Due to his/her hard work and judicial acumen, he/she was elevated as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India on 13 May 2016.

Justice Chandrachud took oath as the Chief Justice of India on 9 November 2022. his/her appointment is an important milestone in the Indian judiciary.

Justice DY Chandrachud has been a part of several landmark judgements in recent times. Some of which include- ‘Legalisation of gay marriage’, ‘Abrogation of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution’ and ‘National Capital Territory of Delhi and Lieutenant Governor’.
