Chunky Pandey’s charm faded with the arrival of Shahrukh, Ajay Devgan, Salman Khan, he/she said – I was lost

Actor Chunky Pandey made his/her debut in the year 1987 and as soon as he/she came, he/she dominated the screen. That period was amazing for him/her. he/she made his/her entry with Pahlaj Nihalani’s film ‘Aag Hi Aag’. Neelam Kothari was seen with him/her in this. But when other actors entered the industry, his/her charm started fading. Chunky Pandey says when stars like Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Govinda and Ajay Devgan made their debut, he/she was ‘lost’. Now he/she will be seen with Anupam Kher in the film ‘Vijay 69’ coming on Netflix. In an interview with ‘Screen’, Chunky Pandey recalled his/her early days and said that he/she had to face a lot of rejection. he/she auditioned for many TV shows and films but failed in all.

he/she told, ‘I remember I went to the office of a very famous producer-director who makes romantic films, and I was wearing a tank top. I reached there after my workout. he/she looked at me and said, I am not making Tarzan, you can go to Subhash’s office. This is how I was thrown out of the office. But after trying for three years, I got my first film in a 5 star washroom.

Chunky Pandey talks about his/her ups and downs during his/her early career. In the 90s, Ajay Devgan, Akshay Kumar and Sunny Deol were playing lead roles in action films. Shahrukh Khan was the new romantic star and Aamir was acting in minor dramas. At the same time, Salman Khan was also giving hits one after the other with Sooraj Barjatya. Whereas Chunky Pandey was struggling to make his/her place.

Chunky Pandey said, ‘I was lost. I came when many wonderful artists had arrived. Govinda was there in 1986, I came in 87, Aamir came the next year, Salman came in 1989 and Ajay in 1990. So, these big superstars just kept coming. I got lost, and I enjoyed my honeymoon for exactly one year. That entire year of 1988 was amazing for me, and then, everything just faded away. Many people came at that time. But for my career ending like this, I should not blame anyone but myself.

Chunky Pandey was working to earn money

Chunky Pandey said, ‘I was that young blood who always wanted to keep working and was doing any kind of work in an attempt to earn money. Then, you cannot build your career very well because your priorities become too different. But then again, there’s a lot of luck involved as well. If I had to live my life again, I would still go through the same process because I too have enjoyed my ups and downs.
