Choreographer Jani Master’s troubles increased, now case registered under POCSO, he/she may be arrested

The troubles of famous choreographer Sheikh Jani Basha alias Jani Master have increased. On September 18, Narsingi police of Cyberabad registered a case against Jani under POCSO. The star Telugu choreographer of the song ‘Aaj Ki Raat’ from ‘Stree 2’ has also been booked for sexually assaulting a 21-year-old woman. The police have now registered a case against him/her under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, after which he/she can now be arrested. Also, the POCSO Act is non-bailable. Two days ago, on October 16, the police had registered a case of sexual abuse against Jani after the complaint of a 21-year-old woman. The woman making the allegations has been a junior choreographer of Jani Master. She has alleged that Jani has sexually abused the woman several times during outdoor shootings and at his/her home in different cities for six years.

The victim was a minor when the exploitation started

Jani Master is a superstar choreographer of Telugu films. he/she has also won the National Film Award. Recently, he/she also directed the item number ‘Kavaala’ of Rajinikanth’s film ‘Jailer’. A case was registered against Jani under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 376 (2) (punishment for sexual harassment), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt). The police have now found that the choreographer allegedly started exploiting the woman when she was a minor. In such a situation, POCSO is also applicable against him/her.

The victim submitted a 40-page report to the Women’s Commission

After filing an FIR with the Cyberabad police, the victim has also submitted a 40-page written document to the Telangana State Women’s Commission, detailing her ordeal along with evidence. Committee chairperson Nerella Sharada told the media on Wednesday that the commission intervened in the matter and issued orders to provide police protection to the complainant.

Women’s Commission said- we want strict action

According to a report in ‘The Hindu’, Sharda said, “The committee has issued orders to provide police protection to the victim and a high-level monitoring committee will also be formed to investigate such cases in the film industry. We will take this matter very seriously and efforts will be made to strictly implement the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act in all workplaces, including the formation of local and internal committees.”

Jani Master has maintained silence on the allegations

On the other hand, choreographer Jani Master has so far maintained silence over the allegations. he/she has also backed away from his/her film projects. he/she has also reportedly been asked to quit his/her work as a member of the Jana Sena Party, the party of Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and superstar Pawan Kalyan.
