China is building a military base near Pangong Lake… Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge claimed

New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday again targeted the Modi government on the issue related to the India-China border. Kharge said that the central government should take the country into confidence regarding the situation on the border with China. Kharge shared a news on ‘X’, which claimed, citing satellite images, that the Chinese army has been digging in the area around Pangong Lake in eastern Ladakh for a long time and has built underground bunkers and shelters for armored vehicles to store weapons and fuel at an important base in the region. What did Kharge say on his/her ex-post?
Kharge said in his/her post, ‘How can China build a military base near Pangong Tso on the land which was in Indian possession till May 2020.’ There was no immediate reaction from the BJP or the central government on Kharge’s post, but the ruling party and the government have rejected all allegations of the Congress on the issue in the past. India has stressed the importance of ‘complete military withdrawal’ from the remaining areas on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh to restore peace and harmony with China.

Mallikarjun Kharge said in his/her post, ‘We are entering the fifth year of the ‘clean chit’ given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Galwan Valley incident, where our brave soldiers sacrificed their lives, China continues to encroach on our territorial integrity. he/she said that remember the day of April 10, 2024, when in an interview to the foreign press, Prime Minister Narendra Modi failed to strongly present India’s side on the global platform.

Jaishankar was also targeted for his/her statement on China
Kharge said that the statement of the Foreign Minister on April 13, 2024 that ‘China has not occupied any of our land’ exposes the Modi government’s soft policy towards China. he/she said on ‘X’ that during a meeting with his/her Chinese counterpart on July 4, 2024, the Indian Foreign Minister had said that it is necessary to respect the LAC and ensure peace and harmony in the border areas.

The Congress president said China was adopting an aggressive stance to occupy Indian territory and build a military base in Sirijap, even though the land was allegedly under Indian control. he/she alleged that the Modi government was responsible for not maintaining the status quo on the Line of Actual Control. he/she also alleged that India had lost control of 26 out of 65 patrolling points (PP), including those located in the Depsang plains, Demchok and Gogra Hot Spring area.

‘Modi’s sugar guarantee’ continues
Kharge alleged that ‘Modi’s Chinese guarantee’ continues as his/her government puts a 56-inch big ‘Chinese blinker’ on its ‘red eye’. he/she said the Congress once again reiterates its demand to take the country into confidence on the border situation on the LAC. Kharge said, “We stand shoulder to shoulder with our brave soldiers.” The standoff between the Indian and Chinese armies has been going on in eastern Ladakh since May 2020 and a complete resolution of the border dispute has not been achieved yet, although the troops of both the countries have retreated from many points of the standoff.

Relations between the two countries have deteriorated significantly after the fierce clash in June 2020 in the Galwan Valley. It was the most serious military conflict between the two countries in several decades. India has been saying that its relations with China cannot be normal until peace is restored in the border areas. The two sides have so far held 21 rounds of Corps Commander-level talks to resolve the deadlock.
