China endangers peace with its military threats: Taiwan Defense Ministry

Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense (MND) released an encouraging video on Friday highlighting Taiwan’s defense capabilities and the threat posed to Taiwan by the Chinese military.

The video was shared by the Taiwanese Defense Ministry through a post on Instagram.

“The threat posed by the #PLA to Taiwan and the region has expanded from coercion to directly influencing the First Island Chain, undermining the rules-based international order. #ROCArmedForces continues to develop our capabilities and prevent war”, the MND said.

The video featured Taiwan’s defense capabilities, its weapons, and armed forces personnel in action, preparation, and training.

“The PRC threatens peace with its military threat, challenging the rules-based international order. Its actions will never receive approval from the international community”, the video said.

“To defend our territory and sovereignty and maintain regional security, the ROC Armed Forces closely monitor our adversary and adjust responses accordingly. We train at this time, we face our opponent and continue our work in increasing strength. We build our abilities in rigorous training. Our confidence comes from our strength. We stand firm to protect our national security”, the video said.

The video comes after Taiwan witnessed an increase in Chinese intrusions near its territory in recent days.

On Saturday, the MND reported that as of 6 a.m. (local time) 12 Chinese military aircraft, 14 naval ships and 9 official ships were detected operating near Taiwan. The details were shared by Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense (MND) in a post on Twitter.

Earlier on Wednesday, in a post on Twitter, MND had said, “Indifference is not an option in the face of generalized #PLA provocations. #ROCArmedForces takes advantage of every training opportunity!”

The Taiwan–China issue is a complex and long-term geopolitical conflict centered on the sovereignty of Taiwan. Taiwan, officially known as the Republic of China (ROC), operates as a de facto independent state, operating its own government, military, and economy.

However, China considers Taiwan a separate province and insists on the “One China” policy, claiming there is only one China, with Beijing as its capital.

This has fueled decades of tension, especially since the Chinese Civil War (1945–1949), when the ROC government retreated to Taiwan after the Communist Party led by Mao Zedong took control of mainland China.

Beijing has consistently expressed its goal of reunification with Taiwan, while using diplomatic, economic, and military pressure to isolate Taiwan internationally. Meanwhile, Taiwan, supported by a significant portion of its population, continues to maintain its independence.
