There is a standoff going on between India and China on LAC in Eastern Ladakh for about four and a half years. It is not over yet, but the process is now underway at the two points – Depsang and Demchok – where disengagement was yet to take place, that is, the troops of both the countries had to move away from each other. In a few days, army patrolling will start in these areas as before. For this, continuous talks were going on and just a day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi was to leave for Russia for the BRICS Summit, the agreement was announced between India and China.

how did the way out
Talks were going on continuously at political, diplomatic and military levels to reach a consensus. Its importance was mentioned by everyone from External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. For a solution, the special representatives appointed for the border issue of both the countries were also talking and after the meeting of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit, the Foreign Secretary told in the press briefing that the special representative would soon Will hold more meetings soon. The special representative from India’s side is National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

initial aggressive stance
However, there is a need to remember how the talks started and how they ended. When the standoff began in Eastern Ladakh in April 2020, Chinese troops had advanced far into the Finger area north of the Pangong area. Chinese soldiers had also built many temporary structures there. In the same year in August 2020, China also tried to open a new front in the southern edge of Pangong area where the Kailash Range is. Movement of his/her soldiers was seen there. Meanwhile, talks were going on between the two countries to end the deadlock in the northern bank but China’s stance was tough.

After this, the Indian Army captured the important peaks of the Kailash Range in the southern bank. It was not easy but the Indian Army quickly reached the tanks there and created a strong position. After this, China started saying that India has crossed the LAC and occupied its territory and it should go back. The strong position of the Indian Army on the peaks of the Kailash Range is what softened China at the negotiating table. After this, through talks, disengagement took place in Galwan area, Finger area on the northern bank of Pangong, Kailash Range on the southern bank and Gogra-Hot Spring area and buffer zones were created there.

There is no love without fear
There is a line in Ramcharit Manas – Bhay binu hoi na preet. This is repeated again and again in military circles. If we look at the LAC standoff, China seemed to be in a strong position during the negotiations as long as it was ahead in the Finger area. When the Indian Army showed its strength to China by capturing important peaks of the Kailash Range, the talks gained momentum and China’s attitude changed. In all the statements made by India at the diplomatic and political level regarding the recent agreement, talks and diplomacy were mentioned, however, in all those statements, the importance of military power and what the Indian Army did on the peaks of Kailash Range was not mentioned. There was no mention of.

questions started arising
Questions were being raised about why what the military did to reach the consensus on LAC is not being mentioned in the same way as diplomacy. Then on Saturday, Foreign Minister S. In an event, Jaishankar also mentioned the role of military along with diplomacy to reach consensus on LAC. It was necessary. It is the responsibility of the country and its leadership to boost the morale of the soldiers deployed at the border in extremely difficult circumstances as well as that of their families.

DIME FACTOR
If you do not get credit for your work in any field, it definitely affects morale. While starting his/her speech at Chanakya Defense Dialogue on Thursday, Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi had said that ‘However somehow we have always remain isolated with the M pillar’. (Somehow we have always been isolated from the M pillar.) Here M stands for military. Actually, DIME is used to explain national power. In this, D means Diplomatic, I means Information, M means Military and E means Economy.

importance of defense in development
In the same program, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also expressed his/her concerns regarding the defense sector. he/she said that we should seriously re-evaluate why important sectors like defense are not given more importance in discussions related to economic development. It also said that while the importance of security for economic development has always been acknowledged, it has not been consistently recognized as a direct factor in economic growth.
