Chhath Puja is a very old Hindu festival dedicated to Sun God and Chhathi Maiya. This year Chhath Puja will be celebrated on 7th November. Chief Minister Atishi has declared a public holiday in Delhi on November 7 due to Chhath Puja. The CM has said in an official announcement that ‘Delhi government has declared a holiday for Chhath Puja on November 7 so that the people of Purvanchal community can celebrate this festival with enthusiasm.’

Apart from schools, all government offices in Delhi will also remain closed on November 7 due to Chhath Puja.

Apart from school holidays, Delhi, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal are also going to remain closed on November 7 on the occasion of Chhath Puja. In Bihar and Jharkhand, Chhath Puja holiday has been extended by one day, that is, there will be a holiday on 8th November also.
