Changes in the Wakf Act are not acceptable… Why did the names of Andhra and Bihar come up in the Jamiat meeting?

New Delhi: An important meeting was held on the initiative of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind (MM) President Maulana Mahmood Madani regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill. Various Muslim organizations participated in this meeting. During this, it was decided to hold public meetings in the national capital Delhi, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh. Along with this, JDU and TDP, allies of the ruling NDA at the Center, will also be contacted. A statement issued by Jamiat (MM) on Thursday said that other sections including Sikh and Dalit communities will also be contacted to take a strong collective stand against the Waqf Amendment Bill.

Decision in the meeting of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind

According to a statement issued by Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind (MM), an important meeting was held at the local headquarters of the organization. Mahmood Madani along with his/her uncle and Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind (AM) President Maulana Arshad Madani attended it. Apart from these, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind’s Amir (chief) Syed Saadatullah Hussaini, Vice President Salim Engineer, former Chief Election Commissioner SY Qureshi, All India Muslim Personal Law Board member Kamal Farooqui, former IAS Afzal Amanullah and Samajwadi Party MP from Rampur Maulana Mohibullah Nadvi were present among others.

Talks will be held with JDU-TDP

According to the statement, it was unanimously decided in the meeting that the amendment in the Waqf Act is not acceptable under any circumstances. In such a situation, like-minded political parties including NDA government allies Janata Dal (U) and Telugu Desam Party will be contacted to create political pressure against this bill. The statement also said that large-scale public meetings will be organized against the bill in the national capital Delhi as well as in Bihar and Andhra Pradesh, where NDA governments are in power.

Opposition to Wakf Amendment Bill will intensify

According to the statement, in the meeting, Mahmood Madani expressed deep concern over the propaganda based on hatred and lies at the social level, especially against Waqf properties. According to this, both Arshad and Mahmood Madani pointed out the need for a struggle against the bill at the political, social and legal level. The statement also said that social media campaigns will be prepared to remove misconceptions about Waqf properties and provide correct information, so that people can be made aware of the correct facts. It quoted SY Qureshi as saying that he/she found it useful to connect political parties and like-minded parties and the Sikh community with his/her movement.
