Change in venue of PAK vs BAN Test, match will not be played in Karachi

New Delhi. The Pakistan Cricket Board has changed the venue of the second Test match to be played against Bangladesh. The 2-match Test series between Pakistan and Bangladesh will be played from August 21. The second Test match of the series was to be played in Rawalpindi but the PCB has now shifted it to Rawalpindi. The PCB on Sunday decided to shift the second Test against Bangladesh from Karachi to Rawalpindi due to ongoing renovation work at the National Stadium.

This decision has been taken after talks with the Bangladesh Cricket Board. The first Test is to be played in Rawalpindi from August 21. The PCB had earlier said that the second Test match (August 30 to September 3) would be played in an empty stadium in Karachi. Pakistan will host the ICC Champions Trophy next year and in view of this, the National Stadium in Karachi is being renovated.

According to the PCB, ‘Our construction experts informed us about the time frame for preparing the venue. They advised that construction may continue during the match. And the noise may cause trouble to the players. Along with this, the dust emanating from the construction work can also affect the health of players, officials, broadcasters and media.’
