Champions Trophy 2025: South Africa has suffered a major setback before the Champions Trophy. Fast bowler Enrique Norcia has been ruled out of the African team of Champions Trophy due to injury.

New Delhi. South Africa, which is entering the Champions Trophy as a title contender, has suffered a major setback. Enrique Norcia, who bowls at a speed of 155, has been ruled out of the African team of the Champions Trophy due to injury. South African Cricket Board has given this information on Wednesday. The Champions Trophy is to be played in Pakistan and UAE from 19th February.

Enrique Norcia has not played international cricket since the T20 World Cup final in June last year. South Africa had recently announced its team for the Champions Trophy. Norkia was also included in this. Meanwhile, news came that his/her injury was not healing. The scan done on Monday made it clear that he/she would not be fit for this ICC tournament to be held on 19th February.

Cricket South Africa issued a statement saying, ‘Pretoria Capitals fast bowler Enrique Norkia has been ruled out of the remaining matches of the Betway SA20 and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 due to a back injury.’ The name of another player in his/her place in the team will be announced later.

South Africa has been performing well in every format of cricket since last one year. he/she made it to the final of the ICC T20 World Cup last year. The African team has also made it to the final of the World Test Championship to be held in June this year. Due to these excellent performances, South Africa is also being considered a title contender in the ICC Champions Trophy.
