Cash scandal a day before elections, politics intensifies from Maharashtra to Delhi

New Delhi: Voting for 288 assembly seats of Maharashtra is to be held on November 20. But a day before this, there has been an earthquake in the politics of Maharashtra, the effect of which is visible even in Delhi. Veteran BJP leader and National General Secretary Vinod Tawde has been accused of distributing money in Nalasopara. After Tawde was accused of ‘cash for votes’, other opposition parties including Congress have attacked BJP and PM Modi. Citing a viral video related to Vinod Tawde, Congress on Tuesday fired sharp arrows at PM Modi and BJP. And alleged that the Prime Minister wants to make Maharashtra ‘safe’ through money power and muscle power. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that the people of Maharashtra will answer on voting day on Wednesday. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, while taking a dig at PM Modi, asked from whose ‘safe’ this Rs 5 crore has come out and who has looted the public money and sent it in the tempo?

What is the matter?

Congress and opposition parties allege that Tawde was distributing money to voters a day before the Maharashtra Assembly elections and his/her act has been captured on video. Tawde denied the allegations against him/her. he/she hit back at Rahul Gandhi and said that the Congress leader should see the CCTV footage of the hotel concerned instead of making ‘childish statements’.

‘Modi ji will save Maharashtra with money power and muscle power…’

Bahujan Vikas Aghadi leader Hitendra Thakur first alleged on Tuesday that senior BJP leader Vinod Tawde had distributed money to voters in a constituency in Palghar district. A purported video of the confrontation between Tawde and BVA leaders and workers has surfaced on social media. Kharge posted on ‘X’, ‘Modi ji wants to make Maharashtra ‘safe’ with money power and muscle power. On one hand, there is a fatal attack on the former Home Minister of the state (Anil Deshmukh), on the other hand, senior BJP leaders are caught red-handed with Rs 5 crore in cash.

‘Modi ji, from whose ‘safe’ are these 5 crores…’

Rahul Gandhi posted on ‘X’ the video related to Tawde, ‘Modi ji, from whose ‘safe’ has this Rs 5 crore come out? Who looted public money and sent you in a tempo? he/she took this taunt by pointing to Prime Minister Modi’s recent statement ‘If we are together, we are safe’. Reposting Rahul Gandhi’s post, Tawde said, ‘Rahul Gandhi ji, you yourself come to Nalasopara, see the CCTV footage of the hotel, see the entire proceedings of the Election Commission there and prove that this is how the money came. If this type of statement without any information is not childish then what else is.

BJP’s counterattack

BJP’s IT cell chief Amit Malviya hit back at Rahul Gandhi and said, ‘I don’t know why Rahul Gandhi is fond of the saying ‘flying arrow…’. If you get Rs 5 crore then present it. Ensure all CCTV footage is seen… Meanwhile, after all the drama, BVA leader Hitendra Thakur took BJP national general secretary Vinod Tawde out for lunch. he/she claimed that in all this, Uddhav Thackeray and Rahul Gandhi are again seen as losers.

The Election Commission was also implicated

Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinet said, ‘The Election Commission cannot remain a mute spectator on this serious issue that came to light a day before voting. BJP National General Secretary Vinod Tawde had reached a hotel to openly distribute the money. Rs 5 crore cash has been recovered from them. Along with this, a diary has been found with him/her, in which there is an account of Rs 15 crore. he/she asked, ‘Why is this money being distributed just hours before the elections? The rule says that no one can live in any other constituency after the election campaign is over, so what was Vinod Tawde doing in Virar area?
