How to enroll for pharmacy studies?The most important and basic requirement is that there should be a science stream in 12th (10+2). Pharmacy courses are available at various levels and to get admission in any Pharma course, candidates need to fulfill the criteria required for the particular course.
Diploma in Pharmacy (D.pharma)Candidates who have completed higher secondary education with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics can opt for it.
Bachelor in Pharmacy (B. Pharma)Candidates must have completed their higher education from national or state level board of education. Studied Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology and English subjects. Must have completed at least 17 years of age. Master of Pharmacy (M. Pharma)Graduation with requisite marks from a Pharmacy College approved by Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) i.e. B. Pharma (B.Pharma) degree.
Doctor of Pharmacy (D. Pharma) This is a six year course. Candidates should have completed higher education from any state or national board of education. Not only this, you should have studied Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with Mathematics or Biology as an additional subject. Must have completed at least 17 years of age in the year of admission. Candidates having Diploma in Pharmacy are also eligible for this.
How to get admission?Know about the courses, now also know how to get admission in these courses. To get admission in pharmacy course, students have to complete their 10+2 (higher education) studies and apply for national level or state level pharmacy entrance exam.
The national level entrance exam is Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test GPAT. You can also apply for state level entrance exams like TS EAMCET (Telangana), APEAMCET (Andhra Pradesh), BCECE (Bihar), WBJEE (West Bengal) etc as per the eligibility criteria of the exam.
Separate private and government universities also conduct examinations for admission to graduate and post graduate pharmacy courses. There are some famous university level exams like BVP CET (Bharati Vidyapeeth Common Entrance Test), IPU CET (Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test), MHT CET (Maharashtra Health and Technical Common Entrance Test)Many institutes also give direct admission in pharmacy course on the basis of 12th marks.Read also: CLAT Preparation: How to prepare for CLAT for a career in Law?
