Captain returns, yet the team loses, New Zealand’s ‘trio’ prevails over India

New Delhi. India has to face defeat in the second women’s ODI match. New Zealand’s experienced ‘trio’ Sophie Devine, Suzie Bates and Lia Tahuhu overpowered the Indian team. In the third ODI played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, New Zealand won by 76 runs and leveled the 3-match series 1-1. India won the first ODI by 59 runs. On behalf of New Zealand, captain Sophie Devine also performed brilliantly in bowling after playing an innings of 79 runs in 86 balls. Divine also took 3 wickets for 27 runs. For India, Radha Yadav became a ‘superwoman’ and took the catch, then also took 4 wickets. After this he/she also scored runs with the bat, but his/her efforts proved insufficient for the team’s victory.

New Zealand women’s team, batting first, scored 259 runs for 9 wickets. In reply, India’s (IND vs NZ) innings was reduced to 183 runs in 47.1 overs. The third and deciding match of the series will be played on Tuesday. The Indian team was heading towards a shameful defeat after losing 8 wickets for 108 runs, but the 70-run partnership of Radha Yadav and Saima Thakor (29) for the ninth wicket saved the team from defeat by a big margin. Apart from Divine, Lia Tahuhu also took three wickets while Jess Kerr and Eden Carson got two wickets each. In this match, the regular captain of the Indian team, Harmanpreet Kaur, who could not play in the first match due to niggle, returned.

Culprits of defeat: 3 reasons… due to which Team India got defeated in its own home, otherwise we would have captured the test series.

Paper lions piled up in the house, former Pakistani player made fun of Team India, New Zealand came to India and beat them like this…

Sophie Devine scored 79 runs
Divine scored 79 runs in 86 balls with the help of seven fours and one six. She made an important partnership of 82 runs for the fifth wicket with Maddy Green (42 runs) and took New Zealand to a big score. Radha took four wickets but she also gave away 69 runs. Deepti Sharma got two successes while Priya Mishra and Saima got one success each. While chasing the target, Tahuhu dismissed Smriti Mandhana without opening the account in the first over itself, while Jess Kerr trapped Shefali Verma (11) LBW. Tahuhu got Yastika Bhatia (12) caught by wicketkeeper Gage Isabel Gage. Even before the partnership between captain Harmanpreet Kaur (24) and Jemimah Rodrigues (17) could become dangerous, Divine dismissed both of them and reduced India’s score to 77 runs for five wickets.

Radha and Saima showed courage
Same thing happened with the partnership of Tejal Hasbanis and Deepti Sharma. Eden Carson dismissed Hasbanis in the 25th over and Tahuhu dismissed Deepti in the 26th over, taking the match out of India’s grip. Both contributed 15-15 runs. Arundhati Reddy (02) became Carson’s second victim. After this, Radha and Saima batted courageously and prolonged New Zealand’s wait for victory. The 70-run partnership between the two was broken by Jess Kerr by dismissing Saima. Saima hit three fours in his/her 54-ball innings. Radha hit five fours in 64 balls before being caught by Laurin Down off Divine’s ball. Before coming to bat, New Zealand’s openers Suzie Bates (58 runs) and Plimmer (41 runs) gave a great start to the team by making a partnership of 87 runs in 16 overs.
