New Delhi. The first match of the five-match T20 series between India and England will be played on Wednesday 22 January at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Team India would like to move forward leaving behind the disappointing performance of the last Test series played against Australia. Coach Gautam Gambhir’s focus will be on fielding a strong playing eleven against England. Mohammed Shami is making a comeback while Sanju Samson, who was kept out of the Champions Trophy, would also like to show his/her strength.
The Indian team is ready to play its first series at home in the new year. India would like to start with a win under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav on the historic ground of Kolkata. The command of the England team will be in the hands of Jos Buttler. India has won 13 out of the last 15 matches and Team India would like to maintain its winning streak.
Shami’s return, eyes on Samson
India’s experienced bowler Mohammed Shami is returning to the Indian team after a long time. This 34-year-old swashbuckler has not played any international match since the 2023 ODI World Cup final. Everyone’s eyes will also be on Sanju Samson, who made a record by scoring three centuries in T20 last year.
