Canadian PM Carney to call for Snap election on this Sunday: Report


CBC News said that Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is likely to dissolve Governor General Mary Simon and call for the federal election on Sunday.

It comes within a week when Mark Carney was sworn in as Prime Minister, when Justin Trudeau came down from the post.

If this happens, the election is expected to be held on 28 April or 4 May, the CBC report said that the CBC reports have been stated that the sources have been said.

Carney is putting its opportunities at stake with a stable government against the backdrop of public public opinion surveys, which has put forward its Liberal Party in the competition.

Carney told reporters, when asked about the time of election, Governor General Mary Simon will be the first to know.

“It is clear that at this time of the crisis the government needs a strong and clear mandate. We are offering a positive vision for the country, a vision of action,” Carney said.

According to the CBC’s Pol Tracker, the liberals led by Carney are leading with 37.7 percent, compared to the stereotypes of poolrere, who stand just below it, 37.4 percent on support.

On March 14, Carney was sworn in as Canadian PM amid tensions against US President Donald Trump’s tariff and Canada. he/she was successful to Trudeau after a polling recession for the Liberal party later and an internal rebellion in the cabinet.

In his/her first comment after taking oath as PM, Carney said in a post on X,

“Today, we are building a government that fulfills the moment. Canadians expect action – and this will distribute this team. A small, experienced cabinet that moves fast, secures our economy, and protects Canada’s future,” Karni said in a post on X.

“Right now, we are building a government that our country will need the most. We are going to protect Canadian people during this crisis and will build a strong economy for the future,” Carney said.

Carney has been an outspoken proposer of an anti -retraction tariff against us and has also rejected Trump’s repeated suggestions to become the 51st US state for Canada – saying “America is not Canada.”
