Can India play WTC final even after losing the Pune Test? How much will the equation change if New Zealand wins?

New Delhi. After defeating India in Bengaluru, New Zealand has also captured the second test match. After scoring 259 runs in the second test match being played in Pune, the Kiwi team bundled out India for 156 runs. After this he/she scored 198 runs for 5 wickets in the second innings. In this way his/her total lead has become 301 runs.

In the last 16 years in India, a score bigger than 280 runs has not been chased in Test matches. In such a situation, it will not be easy for the Rohit brigade to win a target bigger than 300 runs. A 3-match series is being played between India and New Zealand. The third test of the series will be played in Mumbai from November 1.

IND vs NZ 2nd Test: India is in danger of losing the series, for the first time in 12 years… who defeated last time?

This match between India and New Zealand is very important from the point of view of the World Test Championship (WTC). If India wants to play the final, it will have to win at least 4 out of its last 7 test matches. Pune test is also included in these. If India loses in Pune, then it will have to win at least 4 of its remaining 6 Tests. It is not going to be easy to do this at all because India’s next tour is to Australia. If India does not win 4 out of the remaining 7 Test matches, including Pune, then it will have to depend on the performance of other teams.

Border-Gavaskar trophy will be very important
A 5-match Test series is to be played between India and Australia from November this year. India will have to win at least 3 matches of this Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Along with this, it will have to be ensured that before the tour of Australia, it defeats New Zealand in the Mumbai Test match.

South Africa will benefit
If India loses the Test series against New Zealand, then South Africa will get a direct benefit in the World Test Championship. The African team has to play 5 matches before the final of the World Test Championship 2025. he/she has to play 4 of these matches on his/her soil against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. South Africa will remain the contender for victory in both these series. The African team is currently on Bangladesh tour and is leading 1-0 in the 2-match series.

Sri Lanka can also spoil the game
South Africa (47.62) is currently at fourth position in the points table of the World Test Championship. If he/she wins his/her remaining 4 or 5 matches then his/her points table will have more than 62.00 winning percentage points. India is currently at number one with 68.06 winning percentage points. Australia (62.50) is at second place. If the Indian team loses the Test series to New Zealand, then its winning percentage points can be close to 63.00. In such a situation, the performance of teams like Australia and Sri Lanka (55.56) will also decide who will be the top-2 teams in the points table, between whom the final will be played.
