China’s company BYD (Build Your Dreams) introduced its new car BYD SEAL for the first time in India today at Auto Expo 2023. BYD has confirmed the India launch of the Sealed by the fourth quarter of this 2023, with deliveries also set to begin around the same time. Let us tell you that BYD had recently left behind the giant Tesla in terms of sales.

Design inspired by the Ocean X concept

BYD SEAL is 4,800mm long, 1,875mm wide. In terms of design, the SEAL is tipped to be similar to the 2021 Ocean X concept. The SEAL features radical details such as a coupe-like all-glass roof, flush-fitting door handles, four boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights, a split headlamp design and a full-width LED light bar at the rear.

Rotating touchscreen in BYD SEAL

Like the Atto 3 SUV and the e6 MPV, the BYD SEAL gets a rotating, 15.6-inch infotainment display in the center console, with the driver getting a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and head-up display. The floating touchscreen is flanked by central AC vents along with the drive selector and scroll wheel at the bottom.

The center console also houses the heated windscreen, volume controls for the audio system as well as 2 wireless charging pads. It gets a lot of gloss black inserts, white contrasting dashboard trim and door handles integrated into the speakers, making the interiors look as exclusive and edgy as the Eto 3.

Mileage of BYD SEAL

SEAL uses BYD’s Blade battery technology, which will be seen in most EVs in India. The SEAL is based on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 and comes with two battery packs (61.4kWh unit and 82.5kWh unit). Talking about the mileage of the car, the company claims that this car has a range of up to 700 km.

Globally, the sedan gets a single-motor and dual-motor powertrain option. However, in India the SEAL will be offered with a dual-motor powertrain, which gets an all-wheel drive set-up. The front axle-mounted electric motor produces 218hp while the rear one produces 312hp. If seen, both together produce 530hp. Also, this car catches the speed of 0-100kph in 3.8sec.
