BYC condemns the abduction of Khalil Baloch and his/her sister by Pakistani forces in Balochistan

Baloch Yakjehati Committee (BYC) has reported the enforced disappearance of Khalil Baloch and his/her sister Laljan Pullan Baloch by Pakistan security forces on Tuesday night. Pullan’s son Khalil Baloch and Laljan Pullan Baloch, a final year BS Nursing student, were harassed and attacked by security forces.

In a post on Twitter, BYC said, “Last night, Pullan’s son Khalil Baloch, along with his/her sister, Laljan Pullan Baloch, a final semester student of BS Nursing, were forcibly disappeared from their home for the second time. Reports indicate that security forces entered his/her home, assaulted Laljan and his/her family, confiscated his/her phone and books, and forcibly took him/her away the next day.

Laljan was later released but atrocities against him/her continued as he/she was pressurized by the armed forces to visit military camps regularly on demand.

BYC further reported that security forces again raided Laljan’s house and confiscated his/her sister’s mobile phone. This has created fear in the minds of Baloch women as security forces have been targeting women for a long time.

“LEAs operate with complete impunity in Balochistan and their targeting of Baloch women is now gaining momentum,” the BYC lamented. Enforced disappearance of Baloch youth is indiscriminate and a daily routine in Balochistan. Men, women, children and the elderly all face and fear the same fate every day; Fear of disappearing and never being seen again.

The rapid increase in cases of enforced disappearances has created a sense of panic in the state. Due to continuous attacks on Baloch women, concern regarding women’s safety has increased in the state.

BYC is continuously protesting against kidnapping and also urging people to join the protest against cruelty as resistance is the only way to stop such atrocities against Baloch people.
