Why did the Commission change the date?

The Election Commission said that various national and state level political parties (including BJP, Congress, BSP, RLD) and some organizations had requested to change the date of voting in some assembly constituencies with by-elections on November 13, 2024. These parties and organizations had cited large-scale social, cultural and religious programs that day.

It was said on their behalf that voting on November 13 may cause inconvenience to a large number of people. Along with this, various system related problems may arise. In such a situation, voter participation may reduce during voting. Considering these factors, the Election Commission has decided to change the by-election dates.
