New Delhi: The Lok Sabha session of the 18th Lok Sabha has begun. On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, cabinet ministers and many other leaders took oath as members of Parliament. When the proceedings of the Lok Sabha began, Protem Speaker Bhartruhari Mahtab administered them oath as members of the 18th Lok Sabha. As the leader of the House, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the first to be sworn in in the Lok Sabha. After PM Modi, the name of Congress MP Kodikunnil Suresh was called but he/she was not present in the House. After this, many other MPs took oath. Government Bungalow

With the oath taking, the work of allotting government bungalows to MPs in the capital Delhi also begins. Usually, the residences of old MPs who have come to the House for the second or third time do not change. All other new MPs are given a government residence in the New Delhi area. All facilities like cook, security are also available in this bungalow. MPs also have their office in their residence, where they deal with their government work. MPs can live with their families in their government bungalows.

Monthly salary and later pension too

As soon as the MPs take oath, their tenure begins and they get salary every month. According to information, MPs get a salary of Rs 1 lakh per month. Apart from this, they get an additional allowance of Rs 2000 per day for meetings at their residence. According to the official website, MPs get an allowance of Rs 20,000, Rs 4000 for writing material and Rs 2000 for letters. In total, an MP gets Rs 1 lakh as salary, about Rs 70,000 as constituency allowance, about Rs 60,000 for office expenses and a daily allowance. Along with this, MPs are also given pension after retirement.

Free travel and free toll

MPs are given free travel passes for air, rail and road travel across the country. These passes help them travel for official and private work. Apart from this, MPs are given the facility of toll free travel at toll plazas during road travel. Every MP is given two fast tags for toll exemption. MPs are given vehicle facility for official work in Delhi. This facility helps them in local travel.

Free telephone and internet

MPs are given free telephone and internet facilities. This facility helps them maintain communication within their constituency and across the country.

Free treatment for MP and his/her family

MPs and their family members are provided free medical facilities in government hospitals. This facility is also available in prestigious government hospitals like AIIMS and Safdarjung Hospital. Even if the MP is referred to a private hospital, the entire cost of treatment is borne by the government.
