Budget 2023: Modi government has launched PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana to provide free food grains to the poor of the country. (PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana) But will spend Rs 2 lakh crore. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Budget 2023 (FM Nirmala Sitharaman) announced this. He said that by providing food grains to 80 crore poor people during the Corona pandemic, we ensured that no one sleeps hungry.
The Finance Minister informed that the entire expenditure of about Rs 2 lakh crore is being borne by the Central Government under the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana to provide free food grains to all Antyodaya and priority families for one year.

Explain that the Integrated Food Security Scheme of the Central Government is called Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. (PMGKAY) The name has been given, under which free food grains are being given to more than 80 crore poor people from January 1. The move comes amid criticism from the opposition for the government discontinuing the free monthly distribution of five kilograms of food grains to poor people under another scheme known as PMGKAY.

The scheme, launched in April 2020 in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, ended in December last year. Last month, the government decided to subsume PMGKAY into the two existing food subsidy schemes, and as a result, the new Integrated Food Security Scheme came into force.
