BSF starts ‘Operation Alert’ on Bangladesh border, know the reason

New Delhi: Ahead of Republic Day, security has been beefed up along the India-Bangladesh border. The Border Security Force (BSF) has started ‘Operation Alert’ along the 4,096 km long border. This alert is to tighten security arrangements before the Republic Day celebrations. BSF’s Eastern Command has taken this step in view of the changing circumstances of Bangladesh.

What is BSF’s ‘Ops Alert’

BSF said in a statement, ‘Ahead of the 76th Republic Day and in view of the changed situation in Bangladesh, ‘Ops Alert’ has been launched in all field formations along the 4096 km long India-Bangladesh border to enhance security. Along with this, border posts can be strengthened. Additional Director General (ADG) Ravi Gandhi visited South Bengal Frontier to take stock of operational preparedness.

Security increased in view of January 26

BSF said that the ADG has directed all field formations to increase vigilance and remain alert especially on river banks and unfenced areas. During this exercise, border patrolling and other surveillance operations will be enhanced both day and night. BSF troops will conduct various security exercises on the border and will be deployed in forward areas.

BSF alert in view of recent relations with Bangladesh

The Border Security Force has taken this precautionary step in view of the recent developments in Bangladesh. Security arrangements have been tightened at the border to prevent any untoward incident during the Republic Day celebrations. BSF personnel are keeping a close watch on the border and keeping an eye on any suspicious activity.
