Boy born with polio becomes star of Indian cricket team! Know about the struggle…

Indore. “The destination will be found even if you wander, only those who never leave their home are misguided.” Brijesh Dwivedi of Indore thinks the same. Brijesh Dwivedi, who became a victim of polio at the age of just one and a half years, is today the most reliable all-rounder of the Indian Cricket Team for the physically challenged. his/her left leg is weak, he/she converted this weakness into strength and traveled till Team India. he/she has now played a dozen matches for Team India.

Brajesh Dwivedi has to take the help of his/her hands to walk but his/her courage is not weak. Today, I am standing on my feet because of my mother’s hard work. There is a passion for cricket… with the desire to play for the country. Brijesh tells that his/her father was a conductor in state transport. Buying a cricket kit was like a dream, but we used to play with plastic balls. I used to practice by joining broken bats and sewing torn pads and gloves.

Played in India-Bangladesh series in 2017
It is said that from 2003 to 2007, he/she got a chance to play for Central Railways. At the same time, he/she played an inning of 57 runs in a match against Tamil Nadu. When circumstances changed in 2008, I got a job in a private finance company for about Rs 4,000. During Corona, he/she served as Mumbai Ideals captain in the Premier League in UAE. In 2014, when he/she played for the IIT cricket team, his/her wife and IIT colleagues encouraged him/her. Because due to some reason I had stopped playing, but my wife said that you should continue practicing. From that day onwards he/she again joined cricket. Seeing my performance in various matches played in Madhya Pradesh, I got a chance to play in the India-Bangladesh series in the year 2017.

Elder brother gave training
he/she says, struggle comes in every person’s life, but some flourish and some disintegrate. I never gave up. Whenever I went on the field, people looked at me with pity. he/she used to say that even though he/she has polio, he/she comes to play cricket. I did not pay attention to these. I used to go to the field with my elder brother and got a lot of technical training from him/her. People who earlier looked at me with disdain now respect me. I think people should respond with their actions, then both the thinking and viewpoint of the society will change. It is said, when I am asked, what problem do you face in playing cricket, then I answer laughingly, I have left every problem behind.

Played first test against Nepal
Led India’s disabled cricket team in 2023 and played its first historic Test against Nepal and represented the country in several international tournaments. his/her efforts like preparing more than 250 disabled cricketers in Madhya Pradesh and organizing the state level Premier League gave a new identity to disabled sports.
