Box Office: Akshay bows down in front of Kamal Haasan’s ‘Hindustani 2’, earns 3 times more than ‘Sarfira’


This Friday, another clash was seen at the box office between Kamal Haasan’s ‘Hindustani 2’ and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Sarfira’. Both have been among the big films of 2024. However, only one of these is getting a lot of love from the audience. Despite being the better film among these two, ‘Sarfira’ is a film that does not seem to be doing wonders at the global and domestic box office. At the same time, Kamal Haasan’s ‘Hindustani 2’ is on its way to becoming a big hit. Let us tell you the condition of both the films at the box office. Sarfira set the record for the lowest box office collection for Akshay Kumar. ‘Sarfira’ has been made on a total budget of 100 crores including print and advertising costs. However, the film recorded the lowest opening for Akshay Kumar. Akshay’s film earned 2.5 crores on the first day and 4.25 crores on the second day. The film has earned 6.75 crores in India and 4 crores abroad.

‘Hindustani 2’ box office

Kamal Haasan’s ‘Hindustani 2’ has been made on a budget of 150 crores. The film has earned well on the first day beating its competition in India. ‘Hindustani 2’ earned 25.6 crores on the first day and 16.7 crores on the second day. The total collection of the film in two days has been 42.3 crores at the domestic box office and 56.25 crores worldwide.

About ‘Hindustani 2’

Let us tell you, Indian 2, directed by S Shankar, is a sequel to Kamal Haasan’s 1996 film ‘Hindustani’. The film also stars Siddharth and Rakul Preet Singh in lead roles. The film marks Shankar and Anirudh’s first music together, promising an exciting and memorable soundtrack. The sequel has been released in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu. However, even though the film is performing well at the box office, it is not getting positive reviews from both audiences and critics.

‘Sarfira’ the remake of ‘Soorarai Pottru’

Akshay Kumar’s ‘Sarfira’ in the role of Veer Mhatre is a remake of the very successful and popular Tamil film ‘Soorarai Pottru’, in which Surya played the lead role and won many awards including five National Awards. This film is based on the life of G.R. Gopinath. Apart from Akshay, Paresh Rawal and Radhika Madan are in lead roles. The film is directed by National Award winning director Sudha Kongara, who also directed the Tamil film.

Apart from ‘Sarfira’ and ‘Hindustani 2’, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ and ‘Kill’ are also running in theatres.
