Bomb threat to more than 150 flights in a week, Center gave warning to ‘X’, know the whole matter


New Delhi: The government has strongly criticized social media site X (earlier Twitter). Ax did not properly deal with the recent fake bomb threats spread on domestic and international flights. More than 150 flights have received fake threats in the last eight days. This affected flight movement. Along with this, concerns regarding passenger safety have also increased. Airlines like Akasa, Air India, Indigo and Vistara have been affected by these fake threats. All these airlines fly from Delhi to different parts of the country.

Government meeting with ‘X’ and ‘Meta’

A virtual meeting was held on Tuesday evening to discuss this entire matter. The meeting was presided over by Joint Secretary Sanket S Bhondve. Officials of Air India and Vistara participated in the meeting. Representatives of social media platforms X and Meta were also present. According to reports, the government has held X responsible for this matter. The government says that X’s actions ‘encourage crime’.

In fact, Delhi Police had to struggle a lot to get the user ID or domain details of the X account that posted threatening messages. After this the government criticized X. To deal with this crisis, cyber security agencies have suspended or blocked about 10 social media handles since Monday. These handles are mostly on The agencies have identified some words used in fake threats. Like ‘bomb’ and ‘there will be blood everywhere’. The agencies are trying to trace the primary email registration of the threatening handle and its geographical location.

‘X’ is not taking action on fake bomb threats

Mumbai Police has detained a 17-year-old boy from Chhattisgarh. This boy had posted fake bomb threats on Instagram regarding three flights taking off from Mumbai on October 14. In view of the increasing bomb threats, the Central Government has taken action. The government has assured that law and order maintaining agencies are investigating all bomb threats received by airlines and the situation is being monitored.

What did the Union Minister say in the whole matter

Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu said the government is taking the matter seriously and is working to prevent such incidents in future. The government is also considering making a law in this matter. Under this, the culprits can be put in the no-fly list. An amendment has been proposed to The Suppression of Unlawful Acts Against Safety of Civil Aviation Act (SUASCA), 1982.

According to this, if a flight is forced to land due to a fake threat, then the culprit can be arrested and investigation can be started without any court order. Apart from this, changes are also being made in aircraft safety rules. With this, those who threaten to bomb flights will be able to get strict punishment.
