Bomb threat to 8 flights of Air India and Indigo in 15 hours, who is targeting Indian Airlines?

New Delhi: Indian Airlines is not stopping receiving fake bomb threat calls. Since late Friday night, Air India has received 3 threatening calls and IndiGo has received 5 threatening calls. In the last 15 hours, Indian Airlines has received about eight threatening messages. Due to these threats, flights have been delayed and many flights have had to be diverted to other airports.

More than 40 threatening calls in a week

This week, Indian Airlines has received more than 40 such fake threatening messages for international and domestic flights. These threats have created an atmosphere of concern among airlines, security agencies and passengers. Since late Friday night, three Air India and five Indigo flights have received fake calls. These include flights like Delhi-Istanbul (6E 11), Mumbai-Istanbul (6E 17), Jodhpur-Delhi (6E 184). Airlines have taken these threats seriously and have taken all necessary precautions.

Vistara, Air India and Indigo received threats

Vistara’s Delhi-London flight had to be diverted to Frankfurt. After complete investigation the flight left for its destination. Air India’s Newark-Mumbai flight departed for India after three hours of checking. The Air India Express Dubai-Jaipur flight reached its destination and was screened at a separate airport. Vistara’s Udaipur-Mumbai flight also received a threat.

What did Vistara spokesperson say?

Issuing a statement on the incidents, Vistara spokesperson said, ‘Flight UK17, which took off from Delhi to London on October 18, received a security threat on social media. As per protocol, all concerned authorities were immediately informed and as a precautionary measure, the pilots decided to divert the flight to Frankfurt. The flight landed safely at Frankfurt Airport, where all necessary checks were conducted by security agencies, after which the aircraft was cleared to complete the journey. At Vistara, the safety of our customers, crew and aircraft is our first priority.

Indigo flights also received fake messages

IndiGo received similar threats for some of its flights, including Delhi-Istanbul (6E 11) and Mumbai-Istanbul (6E 17). For these two Istanbul flights, the airline said, ‘The safety and security of our passengers and crew is our top priority and we are working closely with the relevant authorities and taking all necessary precautions as per the guidelines.’

IndiGo said, ‘Flight 6E 184 flying from Jodhpur to Delhi received a security alert. The plane has landed in Delhi and the passengers have deboarded the plane, we are coordinating with the security agencies as per the procedure.
