BK Shivani said ‘Children are not wrong, parents are making mistakes’; it is important to improve

When your children were small, they would come and tell you everything. Even if you were not listening, they would still try to tell you their story. But when the children grow up, the opposite happens. Parents run after their child to make him/her talk to them or share with them what is going on in his/her life, but the child closes the door on their face.

Shivani ji said that the relationship between parents and children has changed so much because when they were small, we used to listen to everything they said and accept it. Every person needs acceptance. When children grow up and share something of their own, then perhaps parents are not able to accept it like before.

explained by giving example

BK Shivani said that when your child grows up, he/she comes back from school and tells you that mummy, today I bunked school and watched a movie with my friends. The child is telling you his/her story with the same honesty as he/she used to but now you are not able to treat him/her like that. Will you smile like before after hearing this from your child?

got rejection

got rejection

The speaker further said that when the child gets rejection instead of acceptance here and then this happens not once but repeatedly, then the child stops telling you his/her things. You think that he/she has stopped doing that work, but the truth is that he/she has stopped telling you.

As a parent, you should understand that if the child’s entire class is bunking to go to the movies, then he/she will also feel like doing the same. Whatever is happening around the child, he/she will also feel like doing the same and there is nothing wrong in it. You should tell the child that whatever he/she feels like doing after seeing his/her friends or other children in the class, his/her feelings are right.

Not right for you

Not right for you

After saying this, you should tell the child that whatever you are thinking of doing or the feeling that is coming in your mind is right but it is not right for you. This can harm you. You have to explain to your child that all these things are not right for him/her.

don’t say all this

don't say all this

If you tell your child that you are wrong, what have you done, you have been brought up in such a way, what will people say, then the child will go so far away from you that you will not be able to do anything. In today’s time, if you want to protect your child, then you will have to build such a relationship with him/her that he/she comes and tells you everything.
