BJP will not announce CM face in Delhi! Know the inside story of fighting Kejriwal

New Delhi: After the results of first Haryana and now Maharashtra, the enthusiasm of BJP leaders is high in Delhi also. There is very little time left for Delhi Assembly elections and different strategies are being prepared by the party. On one hand, there is talk of implementing Maharashtra’s formula in Delhi which includes schemes like Ladli Brahmin Yojana. On the other hand, BJP can enter the fray without declaring the chief ministerial face. According to party sources, the top leadership of BJP wants to continue the successful strategy of campaigning under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. This strategy has benefited the party in the elections held in many states in the last one year.

This is the reason behind this strategy of BJP

BJP also did not declare its chief ministerial candidate in the Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Haryana, Telangana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh assembly elections held within a year. Of these, BJP got a big victory in 5 states which also includes Maharashtra. Party sources say that there are many reasons behind not declaring the chief ministerial candidate. This strategy is similar to successful strategies implemented in other states. This helps prevent internal differences and keeps the electoral focus on policy issues rather than individual-centric campaigns. BJP leaders believe that the Aam Aadmi Party has been facing anti-incumbency wave for the last 10 years. Therefore, we want to make it not a battle of faces, but of issues like condition of roads, expenditure on renovation of CM residence.

Sometimes there is no face, sometimes there is no face, this is the condition of three elections.

BJP had made former IPS officer Kiran Bedi its chief ministerial candidate in the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections. But the party won only three seats. In 2013, BJP made Harsh Vardhan its chief ministerial candidate. The party had emerged as the largest party with 32 seats, but fell short of majority. The Aam Aadmi Party, which won 28 seats, formed the government with the support of eight Congress MLAs. However, this government could last only for 49 days. In the last assembly elections, BJP had contested the elections without declaring the chief ministerial face, but it got only eight seats.

Only the central leadership has to decide

Some BJP leaders believe that we have declared the face of the Chief Minister earlier also and have contested elections without a face. But this time the party wants the discussion to be on issues and not on individuals. A senior Delhi BJP leader said that several rounds of meetings and talks have been held regarding the elections, but so far there is no indication that the state unit should promote any face whom the party considers the future chief ministerial candidate. Sees it as. However, the final decision on the Chief Ministerial candidate for the 2025 Delhi elections has to be taken by the central leadership only.

If face is not declared then same question

There could be many strategic reasons behind this decision of Delhi BJP. This strategy has been successful in many states. During the current tenure of Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi, serious allegations were made against many party leaders. Many leaders had to go to jail and some leaders have even left the party. This time the challenge before Arvind Kejriwal is bigger than in the previous elections. At the same time, BJP wants to take advantage of the popularity of Prime Minister Modi. It remains to be seen how effective this strategy proves to be for BJP. It is also certain that when there will be no face at the time of elections, AAP will be asked who will face Kejriwal? Amidst all these questions, BJP leaders believe that the situation has changed in Delhi this time.
