BJP will get new national president only after Delhi elections, know where the matter is stuck

New Delhi: BJP has intensified the exercise of electing a new national president. The party is currently appointing presidents at the state and district levels. The election of the National President will be held only after the Delhi Assembly elections. According to sources, this election is likely to be held between February 10 and 20. JP Nadda will remain the BJP president till Delhi elections.

Tenure was extended in Lok Sabha elections also

JP Nadda’s tenure as National President had ended in January 2024 itself. But it was extended in view of the Lok Sabha elections. However, the process of organizational elections of BJP has started. Those leaders are being selected who will elect the party president. At least 50% of the state units have to complete their organizational elections before the national president can be elected. So far only four states have completed the election of their state presidents.

Membership campaign started late in some states

According to BJP leaders, organizational elections will be completed on time. The membership drive started late due to assembly elections in states like Maharashtra and Haryana, which delayed the election process.

BJP wants to focus on Delhi elections

Voting will be held in Delhi in a single phase on 5 February. There will be a triangular contest between Aam Aadmi Party, BJP and Congress. The results will be declared on 8 February. The reason for postponing the National President elections now is that the party wants to pay full attention to Delhi elections.
