BJP Central Election Committee meeting, PM Modi present, names of candidates from Jammu and Kashmir may be finalised

New Delhi: In view of the Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, the BJP’s Central Election Committee meeting is going on since Sunday evening. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party president JP Nadda have arrived at the meeting. Along with the top leadership of the party, senior leaders and election in-charges of Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir are also present in the meeting. In the meeting, an attempt will be made to prepare a final list by discussing the names of candidates for each seat in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly seats. BJP’s list of candidates for Jammu and Kashmir is likely to be released today.

In view of the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, a round of brainstorming has started at the top level in the BJP for the selection of candidates. Ram Madhav, who was recently made the election in-charge of Jammu and Kashmir, has also become active. Ram Madhav had a long meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his/her residence on Friday morning. According to sources, during this meeting that lasted for several hours, the political situation in Jammu and Kashmir, political equations, the process of selection of candidates and the situation that would arise after the elections were discussed in detail. Jammu and Kashmir State Organization General Secretary Ashok Kaul was also present in the meeting.

When are the elections in Jammu and Kashmir?

Voting is to be held in three phases in Jammu and Kashmir. Voting will be held on September 18 for the first phase, on September 25 for the second phase and on October 1 for the third phase. The results will be declared on October 4. The last date for nomination for the 24 seats in the state where voting is to be held on September 18 is August 27. The last date for nomination for the 26 seats where voting is to be held on September 25 under the second phase is September 5. The last date for nomination for the 40 assembly seats in the state where voting is to be held on October 1 under the third phase is September 12.

Voting has been announced in a single phase in Haryana state which has 90 assembly seats. Voting will be held here on October 1. While the result will be declared on October 4. Notification for this will be issued on September 5. With this, the work of filling nomination papers by the candidates will start. The last date for filing nomination papers will be September 12, the filled forms will be checked on September 13, candidates will be able to withdraw their names till September 16 and voting will be held on October 1. The election process for Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana will end on October 6.
